“Symphonic Mystery” was written by composer Andrei Pashchenko in 1923. This was the first composition specially created for the theremin invented in 1920 by G. I. Gidoni. Like the “Preliminary Act” and “Mystery” conceived by Alexander Scriabin, A. Pashchenko’s “Symphonic Mystery” was planned to be performed with a lighting arrangement prepared “according to the author’s wishes” by Grigory Gidoni. In 2019, the composer and theremin performer Olesya Rostovskaya performed the orchestration of the “Symphonic Mystery” from the clavier with notes from the author. The work was presented at the St. Petersburg Philharmonic on January 11, 2020 (theremin part – O. Rostovskaya). The light line to the work is currently considered lost.
