V. A. Dasmanov developed “a theory of correspondence between the sound and colour scales, based on the purely physical affinity of both scales.” Bulat Galeev characterized its theoretical development as follows: “A relapse of L. B. Castel’s “music of colour” with new and equally naive arguments of physical content” (light music, synaesthesia, “colour hearing”: an annotated bibliographic index (Russia, 1742–2002). 2nd edition, revised and additional. Compiled and scientifically edited by Bulat Galeev. Kazan, Feng Publishing House, 2006. p. 20). Such theories, based on the direct correspondence of a particular colour to a sound or tonality, include the developments of A. G. Chesnokov and A. V. Zakharyina-Unkovskaya.
