Since the early 1920s. M. V. Matyushin, together with his students, investigated the general patterns of change in colour and shape. In 1932, he published a Handbook of Colour, the purpose of which was “to establish the patterns of variability in colour combinations.” The reference book also mentioned “work carried out under his leadership to test the interaction of colour and sound.” The author also planned to publish a “Handbook of Sound”.
