In the 1920s, the project of the “Temple of Super-Art” for the performance of the mystery composition “The Book of Life” was developed by composer Nikolai Obukhov. During these years he lived in Paris. The sketches of the Temple were made by artist Natalya Goncharova. “Obukhov, clearly under the impression of Scriabin’s plans, could not resist the temptation of the idea of a special building, in reality, however, he was well aware of <…> the impracticability of such construction. The sketches of N. N. Goncharova, given in Kuen-Lung’s brochure, reveal an obvious similarity with Scriabin’s image,” writes the composer’s biographer E. Poldyaev (E. G. Poldyaev, Nikolai Obukhov’s Message: reconstruction of the biography. Moscow: Russian Way, 2008. p. 132).
