About the Archive
The Archive is a digital platform for studying, preserving and promoting twentieth-century Russian media art. It brings together material from the “Bulat Galeev–Prometheus” Foundation for the Support of Audiovisual and Technological Art and its partners. Contributions from public institutions and private collections help document the development of technological and audiovisual art in Russia.
Project participants
- The Archive began with digital copies of material held by the “Bulat Galeev–Prometheus” Foundation for the Support of Audiovisual and Technological Art. Together, these records span almost the entire twentieth century.
- Research by the Russian Institute of Art History formed the basis of a section on early Russian projects at the intersection of art, technology, light and sound.
- The Rodchenko Art School contributed material on the development of cybernetic art.
- Kazan Federal University helped create 3D models of historical artworks and devices.
